John Rudolph Waymire was a remarkable man who was born in 1721 in the Electorate of Hanover, Germany, and died in 1801 in Randolph Co., North Carolina. He was the ancestor of many early pioneers to places such as Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, Oregon, and California. Among his illustrious descendants were George W. Julian, an early Indiana Congressman; Frederick Waymire, a Territorial Legislator of Oregon; James Andrew Waymire, Supreme Court Judge of California and a founding Regent of the University of California; and most notably, President Herbert Hoover.

“The Quest for John Rudolph Waymire” is a 560-page genealogical book published in September 2005, prepared by the Waymire Family Research Group. Dr. Friedel Wehmeier found the German ancestral village of the Wehmeyer family, long sought after by a number of dedicated researchers. The community of Duederode, Lower Saxony, Germany, celebrated its 950th Anniversary in July 2005.
The first four chapters outline several generations of JRW's ancestors, his early life in Duederode, the family’s migration to the English colonies, and an analysis of the tales about him that have developed over many years. Included are illustrations of a number of German churchbook records with translations, as well as the marriage contracts for both JRW and his father.
The balance of the book consists of chapters on each of JRW's fifteen children, expanding the data on the material originally covered by Dr. William Reser's 1925 pamphlet, “John Rudolph Waymire and the First Three Generations of His Descendants.”

Thank you for your interest in this breakthrough genealogical resource.
