Their are only 13 "Wehunt" families on the 1870 GA census index. Only one in Dawson Co.(Wm. Wehunt), one in Murray Co. (Martha) and the rest in Lumpkin.
My gg-grandfather David Wehunt of 1870 Lumpkin Co. had a son John 2 yrs. born ca.1868 and a son William 3/13 born ca.1870.
David and his family disappear from census records until 1900 in Bartow co.GA. I have no idea what happened to John. William possibly was a preacher. David's other children were Mary A. E. 1875, David Monroe 1872, and Emma 1878. David again disappears and I have no further records. Family tales say he went to Texas, but I do not know when.
If any of this seems familiar I would be glad to share what I have.
