Fred, a locksmith, b. 14 Nov 1847, prob. in Kiel, Duchy of Holstein, third child of Johann Jacob Friedrich Wegener, a locksmith, and the widow Anna Christina Elisabeth Branders nee Moeller.

When baptized, Fred was named Johann Ludwig Friedrich Wegener. He immigrated to the USA abt 1870, married Sopha (LNU) 1871 and by 1900 census was living in OH with Sopha and four children: Fred, b. 7/1881; Tillie, b. 3/1884; Minnie, b. 12/1887; and Louisa, b. 9/1872, married to Joseph Wolf, b. 9/1873.
