Trying to find a family for David Weir of Forfarshire thus checking a variety of DNA profiles of Weir......... Your Thomas does not match any Weirs of Lanarkshire Scotland nor any other Weir in the databanks; but his Haplotype I1 is a very ancient type found from Holland to Russia and Sweden....and fairly rare in Ireland with a bit in northern Scotland from ancient Viking settlements.......and is considered in theory to be carried by Vikings to Scotland and Ireland....... I have seen this haplotype attached to the Weir name but only in Ireland........Enniskillen.....home of an ancient Viking settlement originally. Dont know if this helps or not: as Weirs seemed to travel back and forth Scotland to Ireland and back again. Notify Administrator about this message?
