I have been doing a lot of research on the Weirs/Wiers of Dunfermline, Fifeshire, Scotland which is near Edinburg. On the Index to the Scottish Church Records I found the following data which may be your David Weir:

       2 Mary WIER       b: 20 December 1824 Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland
       2 Mary WIER       b: 29 October 1830 Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland
       2 David WIER       b: 24 December 1832 Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland
2 Agnes WIER       b: 20 December 1835 Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland
