Hello...

I'm glad the information was useful. The 1880 census for Milwaukee reveals why the name wasn't in the Werley database:

Helena WERLE
Age: 19
Estimated birth year: <1861>
Birthplace: Wisconsin
Relation: Dau
Home in 1880: Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Occupation: Sewing For Store
Marital status: Single
Race: White
Gender: Female
Head of household: Wilhelm WERLE
Father's birthplace: HESS DARMSTADT
Mother's birthplace: HESS DARMSTADT

Helena, 19, is the daughter of Wilhelm, 58, and Julia Werle, 52, and has sisters Minna, 22, Laura, 14, Anna, 11, and brother Johann, 7. Living under the same roof is Ludwig Tetherman or Fetherman, wife Ernestina, both 26, and baby Johann. Wilhem was a <something> maker by trade, and Ludwig was a machinist. Those pages of the 1880 Milwaukee census are water spotted and very hard to read. I have a .jpg capture of the page if you want to take a crack at it. Contact me by email if you do.

If this all sounds likely, you may want to cross post to my Werle forum on Rootsweb/Ancestry.com and here, if it exists.

Regards.....

Bill Wereley
