Nathan Lewis Wharton b: 6/10/1815 in Fayette Co., PA, m: abt 1838 to Jane Cater. Nathan’s brother, Samuel b: 7/5/1818, shortly after his parents moved to OH., m: 11/7/1843 to Sarah Ann Cater, his brother Nathan’s wife’s sister. Jane and Sarah Ann’s father was George Cater who was born in MD. Nathan Wharton resided in Belmont Co., OH.
Arthur Wharton, Jr. b: abt 1790 in MD m: 1812 to Elizabeth Lewis. Their daughter, Phebe Ann b: 11/30/1820, m: W. Josiah Cater . Josiah and Phebe Ann Wharton Cater had a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Cater who m: her cousin Arthur Wharton b: 12/27/1841, son of Francis and grandson of Arthur, Jr. They m: 4/16/1867.
Based on the birth dates of Jane & Sarah Ann Cater’s husbands of 1815 and 1818, I would assume the sisters were born in the same time period. As Josiah was b: abt 1815 in MD (according to Ancestry), I think that it is a pretty good assumption that his father is also George, father of the sisters. George probably settled in Belmont Co.
