Dear Jean,
I have documentation that my Roland Bennett was indentured to John Wharton. It is possble that Roland's sister Polly was also in that household based on census records.
Saying that I have found a doctors note at the new Family search site that John Wharton actually died in 1813. The attending doctor was the eminent Joseph Parrish. Problem is that this note is actually photographed for posting among early 1814 death notes. Interesting. The other problem is the tombstone at Wharton Place that is dated 1811. Then there are at least three courtcases dated early 1813 that list a John Wharton,Esquire. The other John Wharton of Accomack was not a lawyer.
I have located some government bond postings in Philadelphia and someone sent me two notices they located related to his businesses. I can get you more details. His business dealings included the Biddle family.
