Hi Nancy, I have a few questions about the Whitmires of Newberry/Laurens Co., SC and some of their neighbors and relatives. Hopig you can help me, please! From your numerous posts it appears you have done some serious digging and not much "copying" from the internet! I am curious about the George Whitmire who died in 1810 in Newberry Co. I have found references to a suit by his sisters: Martha Abrams (w/o William), Margaret Welch (w/o Nicholas), Elizabeth Watson (w/o John), Sarah Duncan (w/o Moses) and Susannah Duty (w/o Solomon) vs Elizabeth Whitmire, widow of George. George Whitmire appears to have known the McCrarys in Laurens Co., SC. I wonder if he came to SC from Lancaster/York Co., PA with the family of George Young prior to the Revolution. Knowing the Youngs and McCrary's also would mean he knew George Bush. George appears on the 1790 Laurens Co., SC Census and is my ancestor and the focal point of my research. Have you come across any info on a Bush family in VA, NC or SC???? I am also a Rowland descendant of Laurens Co. My GGGG grandfather, Rev. Reuben Rowland was one of the founders of the Duncans Creek Baptist Church which later became the first Baptist Church of Whitmire, SC. Nicholas Welch named as husband of Margaret Whitmire, sister of George also appears on the 1790 Laurens Co, SC census. Do you know anything about Margaret and Nicholas? I am seeking Nicholas' parents and ANY info on these families. Hope maybe some of these names have come across yourdesk and you can help me out! Linda Notify Administrator about this message?
