I am a descendant of Samuel Whitsett of Montgomery county KY. I live in Johnson county MO and there are alot of Whitsitt/Whitsett descendants in the Johnson-Lafayette counties of MO. My great-grandmother was Mary Eliza Whitsett daughter of Preston Simpson Whitsett son of James W. Whitsett son of Samuel and Margaret(Tuttle) Whitsett.
Samuel was born in Londenberry IRELAND according to the information that I have compiled. This is a very hard family to add to a tree as there are Whitsides, Whitsett and Whitsitt who are all related. The name seems to change with generations and per siblings. Right now I have been comparing what I have with the census. I can now also look up the Marriages in Missouri over the internet. That seems to be the best way I have found to keep straight which children belong with which parents. I hope we can have some response from this to discuss the Whitsitt/Whitsett/Whitesides on genforum.
