Somewhere I read that our ancestor, Robert Whittle, (b. in VA, moving with famly later perhaps NC then Edgefield Co. SC, on to E. TN, marrying, having family in E. TN and ending up w/his own family in KY)- that he served with the Tennessee Militia in the War of 1812.
Does anyone have any record or proof of this? Does anyone know which regiment or unit or officers he might have served in or under?
