I am very interested in your Horton posting. Your mention of Jeptha Horton in 1840 Benton (Calhoun) Co. AL is interesting. I believe Jeptha may be the father of J. M. C. Horton. JOHN M. (Mac) HORTON was born in Georgia, 1827 and is listed with his wife, MARTHA ELIZABETH ASHMORE, and one year old son in Benton (Calhoun) Co. Alabama, 1850.
My Horton web page is at the following location listed below. Do you have any evidence linking John Mac Horton to Jeptha and Dolly? I have Jeptha Horton in 1830 Gwinnett Co. Georgia as a son of Isaac also listed below. In 1830 Gwinnett Co. GA Jeptha has a son under five and in 1840 Benton (Calhoun) Co. AL Jeptha has a son 10-15. You seem to be knowledgeable about this family can you look at my Horton web page and let me know if Jeptha is truly the father of John Mac Horton born 1827 Georgia. I have never really gotten a handle on this Horton family and, therefore, have listed many possible progenitors on my Horton web page. Can you help and if so please let me know if you think Jeptha may be the father of John Mac Horton.

"Jeptha Whorton is in the 1840 census of Benton Co., Alabama (later Calhoun) as Jeppha Horton. I am sure it is Jeptha Whorton as he is near others known to and associated with him-and Artemissa and Alex Wallace. Alexander Wallace and Jeptha were joint grantees of land in Alabama. I am trying to locate by the land description where that land is now."

"None of Jeptha's kids named Bartlett, though. I think William md. Dolly Sansom 1813 can't be a sibling to Mirandy Clinton and Artemissa as they are all same ages in census-born ca. 1810-11-12 and before marriage of Dolly Sansom to William Whorton."
