Memorial record of Alabama : a concise account of the state's political, military, professional and industrial progress: page 1-513
A. U. R. Whorton, on of the most prominent farmers of Blount County, was born in Ga. in 1826, son of Isaac and Iroil (Baker) Whorton, both natives of S. C., who located first in Ga. at an early age and remained until 1840, when the family came to Ala. and purchased a partially improved farm in Blount County. Mr Whorton removed to Walker County, where he remained till his death. He represented Forsythe County GA in the legislature before coming to Ala, and represented Blount county in the legislature before the war. He was also the first sheriff of Forsythe county Ga., under the new constitution. He and his wife were members of the Baptist Church. he was the son of Benjamin and Olla (Green), Whorton, both natives of SC. The maternal grandfather of Mr Whorton was a soldier in RW and served 7 years.

A sketch of another son, T B Whorton says that was the son of Isaac Whorton, a native of Ga, who in 1840 removed to Ala bringing with him his aged father who died a few years later. the sketch mentions that the mother of T B Whorton was a daughter of Samuel Julian, of French descent.
