I would try to find Mathilda on a Swedish emigration database if you had a last name, but to search for a Mathilda born 1880 with no last name is impossible. (I assume that Nordin was her married name. How does Sandström fit into this family? You put that in the subject line but not in the body of your post.)
It would also be helpful to know when she came to the U.S. There is a column for a year of immigration in the U.S. Federal Censuses for 1900-1910-1920-1930.
Since Mathilda was your grandfather's sister, it would have been useful to know his name and specific details about when and where he was born, etc.
The 1900 U.S. Federal Census provides a month and year of birth and since there were zillions of Mathildas who left Sweden, it would help to have more than just a year of birth. By the way, is 1880 a date found on a document or is it an estimated year of birth based on her age at some event?
To find more information, try the wonderful Swenson Swedish Immigration Research Center. They have a website for their archive but their extensive collection of records is NOT online. Many of us have solved problems there, such as learning about our Swedes after they came to the U.S. or even learning where they came from in Sweden and much more. You need to go there to research or pay them to research for you.

I made a wild guess and used Sandström to search for a Mathilda born in 1880. I have no idea if this person is yours or (of course) if Sandström was her maiden name.

They must have prepaid their ticket at least as far as New York, based on the Emihamn database. Emihamn was made from registrations with Swedish port police before leaving Sweden. (Not all Swedes left through a Swedish port.) New York may or may not have been their final destination.
