I beg to differ with this facile dismissal of the possibility that there might have been an area called "Indian Sands" in 1850. I have inspected a mircrofilm image of the original 1850 manuscript with some care. If you will compare the placename in the header with the personal names in the record, you can easily see that the marshall intended to write an "S", NOT an "L" !!!!

If you will go to the Waushara County bulletin board, you will find an inquiry about a "Sand Prairie Cemetery." Since Waushara County was formed from Marquette in 1851, it would still have been enumerated as part of Marquette County in 1850. This inquiry suggests that "Indian Sands" might lie in what is now Waushara County.
