Thank you very much for your informative reply. The historical information is very interesting. About Nunda's Herman Pages: according to the "Centennial History of the Town of Nunda," 1908, there were at least two. One, the son of Eli Page, was listed as Herman D. Page: "Herman D., who succeeded his father on the homestead was born at Nunda December 10, 1828." He married, 1) Margaret Consalus, and 2) Mary Octavia Warner. "H.D. Page was supervisor of his town for six terms. He died in Nunda." In fact, he died in 1890 and is buried in Nunda's Oakwood Cemetery, according to George W. Page, who transcribed Page burial records there. Herman L. Page was a son of Eli's son, Albert Page, with Albert's wife, Jerusha Caroline Tyler. Here's what the "Centennial History of the Town of Nunda" has to say about him: "Herman L., married Miss Maria Camp..." He made pipe organs. "...the young merchant amassed a fortune and became Mayor of Milwaukee..While traveling in Germany, on one of their European tours, he (Mr. Page) sickened and died." Perhaps Herman L. Page only became mayor, and somebody else named Page became sheriff. Notify Administrator about this message?
