Anna Sroka was born in the Austrian section of Poland, on some records it says she was born in Galacia. Dates of birth vary on census records and cemetery records. She could have been born as early as 1858 or as late as 1865. She immigrated to the US in 1881, and was married shortly thereafter to Paul Kornaus. They settled in Maple Grove, Shawano County, Wisconsin and are shown on the 1895 Wisconsin state census. She could read and write but she could not speak English. Her husband Paul was naturalized in 1895. In 1911 he is shown as owning land: 40 acres in Section 13 of Maple Grove and 80 acres in section 14. According to the 1910 census she had 11 children, 10 were still living as of 1910. She died in 1927 and is buried in the catholic cemetery BVM in Pulaski, Wisconsin
