thank you for the informaion. I know that Charles lived in Jefferson, Wi in vernon Cty. Is it possible that Jefferson might have some more information on his family. I know that Charles bought and lived on an island in the Mississippi known as Stearns Island and now believed to be named Battle Island. He remarried after his first wife Mila died shortley after Norris was born in 1872 he had at least one older brother named Charles. His step-mother Susie Mae Gordon-Stearns had 10 children 8 of whom were alive in 1900 Mila R. Stearns 1876, Frank A. Stearns 1883, George C. Stearns 1884. Mila was married 3 times and had 6 children. William Franklin Bond married abt 1894 Gordon B. 1895-1907, Amos G. 1898-1944, Neville L. 1903-1990, Frank A. 1905-1905. Walter Forsythe married abt 1910 Ian K. 1911-1944, Jean 1915-???? and Mr. Flatla. Mila died in 1958 in St. Helens Ore.
