I'm quite sure Thomas of Dedham and James of Virginia were in no way related. James died within a year or two of arriving in VA and his children and wife moved to Kentucky and began moving about from there. I hope you have had the opportunity to see the book, "The Wights" by William Ward Wight. It has a lot of Wight family information and Thomas is spoken of quite a lot.
