I have found more than one Wilkins family in Texas during this time period. The family that I am interested in came from NC and lived a while in MO before arriving in Texas. There were in all five Wilkins brothers known to have lived in Texas. William was the first to arrive and his brother, George Washington Wilkins probably accompanied him. They arrived around 1839. In 1844 they were joined by brothers, Matthew, Johnathan and Isaac. All had large families and were inclined to name their children after other family members so a Wilkins with the middle name Washington would possibly fit in.
