My GGrandmother is Mary 1854, her mother was Susan. I have my GGrandfathers pension package where she first filed under "Tompson" and later recanted stating that was her stepfathers name, Woolam was her name. James I do believe is on his 3rd marriage in 1860 because 1840 he has a female of 20-30 living at the home along with a female 5 and under, Sophiah. The older boys in 1860 could be Jane's or could be using differant names, I know the twins changed their first names in 1870 to Barlett and Obediah and last names to Chappell. I have contact with Bartletts GGrandson and the family story was they were born Woolam's. My Susan (GGGrandmother) sticks with Alabama and in 1860 I find a Susan Thomasson 1835 in AL but the kids don't match up in 1870. So I lose her in 1860 and can not find but 3 of the kids after 1870. H. Woolam was in the Civil War at Andersonville Prison, survival rate there was slim, so I feel safe he died in 1864ish. I did find a Wilkins 1793 birth yr 1850 in Choctaw Cty. In 1840 he lived in another Co in Alabama and has a daughter Susans age range. But I do not know what happens to Susan, Harry the youngest (1870) or Robert in 1880. My GGrandmother stayed Okittabeah until 1895. Can't get the census up to check neighbors though, but I feel safe some one is there. Her Husband was from Indiana. Another thought I had was she didn't marry until after 1860, and Tompson/Thompson past prior to 1870 and she kept the kids.. Thank you for you response, Another thought but I can't figure it out, JM Woolam was from Fayette TN. There is an Elizabeth Woolam living in Fayette in 1840 with 2 females Susans age. This could have been how they met. Help is greatly appriciated this is a puzzle. Notify Administrator about this message?
