Seeking information on a William Wilson family who was on the Walker Co GA Census in 1850. Household consisted of William Wilson born ca 1810 SC; wife Sarah b ca 1815 SC; Children: Benjamin W. E., ca 1829 SC; Mary M ca 1837 SC; Abby L ca 1838 SC; Martha A ca 1839 SC; James ca 1841 SC; Susan C b ca 1843 GA; Jerry M ca 1845 GA; Minerva J ca 1847 GA; and Sarah E born ca 1849 GA. This same family is again found on the 1860 DeKalb Co AL census. I believe this to be the family of my great gfather Abraham/Abram Wilson who would have been born after 1850 census, ca 1852. Have not been able to locate any of the above except for Abram and Sarah E. I believe that Sarah E married a man by the name of either Hugh W Crosby or Uriah W Cosby around 1868 in either GA or AL. Sarah Crosby is found on the 1870 Morgan Co AL census with her first child, James W. Sarah is listed on the census as blind. Hugh must be away from the home as he is not listed. But Hugh and Sarah are later found on the 1880 Chattooga Co GA census along with their children. Again, Sarah is listed as being blind. In 1900, Hugh is found in Jackson Co AL with a few of his children and a new wife. Apparently, Sarah has died and Hugh has married 2nd wife, Mary M. Believe her to be Mary Magdaline Ferguson who first married John Flippo and then married a man with the surname of Terry before she finally married Hugh. She brings a son to the marriage, James E. Terry b. ca 1881 TN. One of Hugh and Sarah's children, Mary Callie Cosby, married Andrew J Flippo. He appears to be related to Mary Magdaline as well but not sure how. Hugh/Uriah Cosby/Crosby was b ca 1847 in Jefferson or Blount Co AL. His name is listed as Hugh W Crosby and Uriah W Cosby in different vital records. The change in his name appears to start around 1910. Not sure which is correct. Hugh/Uriah's children were: James W Cosby(or Crosby) born ca 1869 AL; Milton ca 1872 AL; Alpha Lafayette ca 1873 TN; John G ca 1876 GA; Frank ca 1882 AL; Mary Callie ca 1883 AL; and Marion Isaac ca 1889 AL. As for my g gfather, Abraham/Abram Wilson, he is first found on the 1870 Morgan Co AL census. He married Sarah Jane Nesmith in 1870 and disappeared in the Spring of 1874. No one in the family has ever known exactly what happened to him. His family never heard from him again. My grandfather, William Martin Wilson, was born just a few weeks after Abe disappeared. William Martin Wilson grew up in and around Lawrence and Morgan counties in AL and moved to Navarro Co TX ca 1898. He was a Baptist circuit preacher. He married into the Hardy family from Panola Co TX. Lived out his life in the Navarro, Freestone and Limestone county areas of central TX. Lived briefly in Jefferson Co Oklahoma ca 1910 but returned to TX ca 1914. Surnames that are associated or thought to be associated with my Wilson family: NESMITH, WOODALL, VEST, CROW, COSBY, CROSBY, SHOOK, FERGUSON, FLIPPO, and others I can't recall right now.
