In case it is of interest to anyone, there is a photo of William Wilson posted on deadfred.com:

This picture of Mr. William Wilson appears on page 494 of the Canadian Horticulturist, vol.XXVII, no.11, November 1904. Please see that reference for more details. Mr. Wilson was born in Ayrshire, Scotland in 1849. He lived in Scotland and Ireland until 1877 when he moved to Canada and finally settled in London, Canada in 1879. That is all the information I have on this picture. I am not researching this line, just saw the photo and thought I'd post it.
