Looking for information on Joseph WILLSON or WILSON (the spelling changed from document to document) who resided in Chester County, Pennsylvania in the 1700s. He first appears on the tax list for Sadsbury & Fallowfield township in 1725, next to Ann WILLSON, widow. Both Joseph and Ann were on the tax list for Sadsbury township in 1726, and in Fallowfield in 1729 & 1730. Joseph's will was written in West Fallowfield 19 June 1751, and proved in Chester County on 1 October 1751. It's recorded in Book C, page 308. An abstract of the will: Directs that mills and lands bought of Moses DICKIE be sold. To wife Janet 1/3 of estate real and personal. To daughter Margaret, wife of William DICKIE £10. To daughters Jean, Elizabeth, Catherine WILLSON £30 each when of age. To brother Gideon WILLSON £40. To sons Thomas, Hugh, John and Joseph remainder of estate real and personal to be divided when Joseph is of age. To son-in-law Abraham and daughter Anne SMITH 4 ewes. Executors: Wife Janet, brother Gideon WILLISON and son Thomas. Letters to widow and son, the other renouncing. Overseers: Father-in-law William McCREA and Andrew STERLING. Janet McCREA WILLSON wrote her will in West Fallowfield on 25 February 1759. She mentioned all the children her husband did in his will, except for son Hugh. I assume he died before his mother. Janet's will was proved on 28 May 1760 in Chester County. Unfortunately, her son John died before that date. An abstract: Janet WILLSON of West Fallowfield. Relict of Joseph. To my married daughters Margaret DICKIE and Ann SMITH 10 shillings each. To 3 unmarried daughters Jane, Elizabeth and Catharine 20 shillings each. To son Thomas riding mare. All remaining to sons Thomas, John and Joseph WILLSON. Executors: Sons Thomas and John. Letters to Thomas the other being decease Witness: Andrew STERLING Joseph WILLSON's brother, Gideon, died in 1790. The two brothers, along with Joseph's wife, Janet, are buried in the Upper Octorara Cemetery in the Old "New Side" graveyard. Only Gideon's marker remains. I am wondering if Joseph & Gideon were the sons of Hugh WILSON who died in Chester County in 1725, the same year the widow Ann appears on the tax list next to Joseph.
