The information comes from various sources, including most prominently Men of Mark of West Virginia, Vol. 3 or 4 which deals with Jacob Fauntley Woodyard, my great grandfather. All of the other information is from vital records in the counties named. As for the Colbert and Covert discrepancy, in Maryland the family for generations was Covert (and was not to be confused with Calvert as was often the case); when the family moved into Virginia, the name was changed to Colbert by various renderings. Matter of fact, an uncle of John Covert Woodyard was in King & Queen County, Virginia as Robert Colbert and another cousin married Asa Colbert, although they were all originally Coverts. I hope this helps.
