missing military and medical records Charles Henges DOB 1896

My great grand uncle, Charles Godfrey Henges, served in WWI. The records had been requested from National Archives and Records Admin. Unfortunately, the fire got most everything. I have a certificate of Military Service which lists his enlistment date as April 14, 1917. He was Honorably discharged from Fort McHenry Army Hospital, Baltimore as a PFC on March 9, 1920. The only contemporary document received was a VA disability rating sheet based on an exam in 1935.

He was from NY and received his wounds "in combat with an enemy of the US."

Does anyone have suggestions on where I could look for more info on his military service. I have no idea where he served, or what unit he was in. Any and all pointers would be much appreciated.
