World War 11 draft reg. shows Charles Godfrey Henges Residene: 31 Dock Drive, Freeport, Nassau Age: 46 Born: Brooklyn April 18, 1896 Unemployed Disabled War Veteran ** for residence - 8903 Myrtle Ave. Glendale, Queens, was crossed out with the Dock Drive address written over it. Name and address of person who will always know your address: Mrs. Christina Miller - 8903 Myrtle Ave. Charles is in the 1920 census BALTIMORE WARD, BALTIMORE, MARYLAND- FORT MCHENRY USA GENERAL HOSPITAL #2 ** I looked up Christina Miller in 1920 census and found her at the Myrtle Ave. address. She is with John Miller age 50, and his family. Christina is aged 85, born Germany In 1910 she is aged 77, living in Queens, NY, with Charles Hands, age 44,and Maggie, wife, age 49. I am wondering if that is a wrong spelling of Henges? Charles and Maggie had 4 children, 3 living but none are shown with them. I may have found Christina in 1880 - she has a daughter age 21 and son John age 13 so could be the two from 1910 and 1920 census if Charles Hands is actually Henges.?? HENGES, Charles G., age 23, patient, soldier U.S. Army, single, born NY both parents born NY I guess the only bit that may help you with Charles' military info would be the death record - hopefully the cemetery may have some info for you. I just found a site with a bit on Charles. Here is the site address: http://www.archive.org/stream/roster106thinfan00philrich/roster106thinfan00philrich_djvu.txt It has information on Company G, 106th Infantry I just googled his name and this popped up. Apparently the 106th was formed in 1917.Scroll down the page on the site and it tells you about its history. Charles G. Henges is listed in the roster. I also found this site which has list of internments at the Long Island National Cemetery. Charles is listed, as is an Alex Henges http://files.usgwarchives.org/ny/suffolk/cemeteries/babylon/longisland/h So hopefully with the 106th info you can find more on Charles. Good luck, Carolyn L Notify Administrator about this message?
