I have just found out my great uncle was in the Royal Navy prior to enlisting in the Army I located him on the 1911 census on the HMS Venerable London Class Battleship Lionel Sayers age 18 birth place Wales. In 1914 he was in the Army Suffolk regiment Why would he have switched? due to the war needed more in the Army?
How can I find out more about his time in the Navy ? I know he deserted the Army in 1922 and his family and has not been heard of since 1933
Any assistance appreciated

Karen
