Thank you Roger! You certainly do know a lot about this war. It is a good learning experience for me! Do you have a death date for Joseph? If Josephs body was sent to his hometown, what do you think it would be. His family was all in Ireland and current family do not feel he is buried there. He went ot U.S. in 1904 and lived in boarding houses in Brooklyn and then Manhattan. It does not seem like he had any family anywhere but Ireland. He did have a fiance in New York. If he was buried at Chateau-Thierry on the Marne River would he show up on the website? It almost seems as if there were 2 Josephs. The one I am working on just joined the Army that year or 1917. He was a Corporal. But I am hearing about a LT/Coronel.Quite a mystery! Thank you Gayle
