A Hint and a Question

My mother is connected to the Wimer family through her grandmother. She was given to believe the name is a variant of the name "Weimar." This is the same as the Weimar Republic--the government of Germany that Hitler deposed in the 1930's. I think if there is any mix-up, it may be due to different immigrations from Europe. The "Wy-" variant spelling would appear to be Dutch, whereas the "Wei-" formation is the original German. Regarding the "-mar" or "-mer" spelling...just a simple vowel shift probably. Or maybe people just spelled it the way they wanted...as so many Americans will. Good chance all these people have the same progenitor.

Would anyone happen to know of a connection between the Wimer family in the late 1800's and the descendants of CSA Major General Sterling Price of Missouri?

By the way, since my G-Grandmother was a Wimer, I am sure the Midwestern connection is going to be very strong for all these folks. She married my G-Grandfather and settled in Indiana originally.
