John Yager b. 1836, MS

I have found evidence to support previous writers, who speculated that John Clinton YAGER, b.1836, MS was the John YEAGER listed in the 1850 census of Kemper Co, MS in the hh of Bat YEAGER.

John C. YAGER married Delphine MIZELL and moved to San Jacinto Co, TX around 1875. Emily YEAGER b.1860, MS married in 1875, San Jacinto Co, TX John D. MIZELL (brother of Delphine).

Some family tradition said that Emily was a sister of John, but the ages don't match. I have found an Emily YEAGER in the 1860 census of San Augustine Co, TX in the hh of William P. YAGER b.1837, AL. I think this is the same William YEAGER listed in the hh of Bat YEAGER in the 1850 census of Kemper Co, TX.

Evidence of this is in the 1860 census of San Augustine Co, TX the next hh after William P. YAGER is Elias MAYO. This is the same Elias MAYO that is listed in the 1850 census of Kemper Co, MS on SHT 168. Bat YEAGER is listed on SHT 169.

CONCLUSION: Emily YEAGER, who married John D. MIZELL is the niece of John Clinton YEAGER. John Clinton YEAGER and William P. YEAGER are sons of Bat YEAGER.

There are several problems with the 1850 census of Kemper Co, MS. Bat YEAGER seems to be B.M YAGER in the 1860 census of Neshoba Co, MS and the 1870 census of Choctaw Co, MS; BUT the place of birth and some of the names do not match.
