Article in "The Atlanta Journal-Constitution" newspaper, Tuesday, Nov 12, 2002: "Family's back yard home to cemetery" This article told of a cemetery in the backyard of a family home in an upscale, Weatherstone, subdivision near Conyers, GA. Conyers, GA is in Rockdale Co, GA. On my GA Counties list, Rockdale Co (GA) was established 1870, made from Newton Co. (1821) & Henry Co. (1821). "Archaeologists hired by the county say the cemetery has likely been there - marked by only a few crumbling head-stones - for more than 130 years." County officials wee to hold public hearings on Tues.night, advertising the meeting & had sent letters to possible rela-tives, hoping that some will claim the remains... Also, according to the article, there is a GA state law that would require the remains to be dug up & placed in a "traditional cemetery or mausoleum" - at taxpayers' ex-pense, if no relatives step forward to claim them. Further info from Rockdale states if no relatives come forward, the remains will be sent to Lawnwood Memorial Garden in Newton Co, GA. I've tried to contact Jerry L. Hare whose site on ZACHERY family is given as www.Harefinds.com - This site would not come up, so I've written to the email given for him. Does anyone have a newer url for his site..I kept getting a weird "Netsters" page or the msg page of Genforum..... Thks, Sarah H. Studstill (descendant of POLLY WARD (either dau or granddau of PETER ZACHARY, RS.) who mar JOHN LOVEJOY. The article was written by a Chandler Brown (cmbrown@ajc.com) of the newspaper Notify Administrator about this message?
